Children’s School of the Spirit
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
How much does the school cost and how do I pay? The school costs $15 per child per session or a combined discounted price of $150 per child for all 12 sessions. Parents can pay by cash or check at the door before each session, as well as just pay upfront for the year.
Do you give a discount for families with multiple children? Yes, the fourth child is free (or any child thereafter) belonging to the same family.
Are parents allowed to stay? Parents are allowed to stay if they are discreet and not a distraction. Some parents may want to stay, and some may want to drop their children off—either option is fine. I do ask that you carefully and prayerfully seek God about whether you should be present or not. I have found some children surprisingly do better (take more risks, etc) when parents are not around, but each child is different so you can make the call about what would be best for your child. For parents who will be present, please be prepared to help as needed. *If you have a special needs child or if your child has a hard time focusing—please plan on staying with your child, your participation is appreciated.
The program is for children aged six and up, can I bring my five year old? Parents of children aged 4 or 5 can bring their children as long as the parent stays the entire time and the parent removes the child from the class if they are restless or becoming a distraction. Please be aware that the content is designed for children six and up and if you need to leave part-way through, we will be unable to give you a refund. Please do not bring any children under the age of 4.
Can children over the age of 12 come? Yes! The program is specifically designed for children ages 6-12, but children of all ages will benefit from the teachings.
Will there be a snack provided? Yes, we will provide a light snack half-way through the three hour session. Please make sure your children are well fed before coming—as they tend to have a hard time focusing when hungry. Water is available at the church, but we do recommend children to bring their own water bottle.
What does my child need to bring? Please bring along your Bible, a pen/pencil, your favorite journal or notebook if you have one, and a really open heart and good attitude.
Who will be teaching the sessions? Most sessions will be taught by Jennifer Toledo, but Jennifer will also have other individuals join her to share with the children and help lead some of the activities.
What if I can only make a few of the sessions? You do not need to commit to the entire year if you are not able to. You are free to attend only the sessions you are able to (you can pay at the door each time). Of course, we highly recommend that you try to make as many of the sessions as possible to have the greatest impact on your child.
What kinds of things will you be teaching? Each session will be made up of a teaching time and an activation time. Teaching times will include topics such as: Who is God? Why was I created? Friendship with God, Hearing God’s Voice, Partnering with God for the supernatural, healing the sick, sharing your faith, taking a stand for God, how to prophesy, justice and the arts, missions and being a light, etc. Activation times will range from prayer ministry, art projects, writing projects, soaking times, etc.
Where exactly is this taking place? We will be meeting at Expression 58 Church in Glendale, California in the sanctuary. The church is located at 225 S Chevy Chase Drive, Glendale, CA 91205. You will need to find street parking around the church (free) but may take a few minutes to find so please plan accordingly.
