Social Justice Internship

Co-Hosted by:

Expression58, Nightlight, and Global Children's Movement

The Issue

We live in a time when injustice seems to know no end, yet as followers of Christ we know that it is God's desire to establish Kingdom Justice here on earth. We believe Justice is the divine restorer of any violation of love.  Justice makes the wrong right.  Justice is the Good News of the Gospel that heals lives, restores families, and frees people to live out their God-given destiny. We intend to partner with Him to see this happen. Come join us for a life-changing experience that will equip you and release you to be a catalyst for Kingdom Justice on the earth!

The Internship

A five-month intensive learning experience based in the heart of Los Angeles.  The Social Justice Internship is designed for mature believers who are passionate about Justice Issues, the Poor, Children, and the Nations.  The Program will offer a variety of courses and hands-on experience that will equip you to tackle issues of injustice both locally and internationally; and will forever impact you with God's heart for the poor and broken. The internship is an advanced leadership track designed to equip you spiritually, emotionally, physically, and practically for living a life of mercy and justice. Interns will partner with cutting-edge ministries and in the process gain priceless exposure, networking opportunities, and experience.

The Directors

Jennifer Toledo

Jennifer and Jonaton Toledo are the directors of Global Children's Movement, a ministry birthed out of compassion for children at risk around the world. Their vision is to equip and release children into the fullness of the kingdom, as they tackle issues of injustice that plague a generation.  They have ministered extensively throughout many different nations, seeing incredible transformation and restoration come to some of the darkest places of the earth.  Their passion is to see a whole generation truly fall in love with Jesus and be released to partner with heaven. They long to see the simple undiluted gospel restored in the church, and for the kingdom of heaven to manifest on behalf of the poor. Jonatan and Jennifer are Senior Associate Pastors at Expression 58 and are living in Los Angeles with their daughter Malaika and son Josiah.

The Experience

A major component of the Social Justice Internship is the extensive amount of "Hands-on Experience" our interns will receive. Interns will work closely with Global Children's Movement projects throughout Africa and Latin America and Nightlight projects in Los Angeles and Bangkok. In Los Angeles, Interns will be thrust into areas riddled with exploitation to release light and hope through outreaches each week into prostitution and human trafficking "hotspots" throughout the city. Interns will also strategize, organize, and run outreaches in MacArthur Park including Side-walk Sunday School, distributing supplies to families in need, feeding the homeless, and contending for revival in one of LA's most influential and historical parks.

Interns will bring input and assistance to a Rescue Center for children in Kenya, a feeding program for refugees in the Congo, a Domestic Violence Campaign in Uganda and NightLight's jewelry business that offers alternative employment to women trapped in Bangkok's sex trade. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in an overseas trip where students can choose to go to Thailand, Kenya, Uganda, or Congo and partner first-hand with our projects in the nations. The experience will be vast, unique, and life-changing.

The Commitment

We are passionate about making a way for others to start living out the dreams God has placed in them. We are committed to our interns, and operate in a very relational style.  Interns become "part of our family" and many of our former interns are either working with us now or walk closely with us in their endeavors.  After the five-month internship we are committed to helping our interns "step into" what they feel called to do. It is with great honor that we extend our influence, connections, and opportunities.
