Encounter Night For Creation
April 26 6:30 - 8:30 pm | Expression58
The very Genesis of the Word of God begins with creation. We read of how God dreamed up, formed, and caused a world of beauty to be birthed and then took from the very dust of that earth to create humankind. His intention for placing humanity amid nature was to complement one another, and that man would care for the land and everything in it. We find ourselves in a moment in history that is the culmination of humanity’s choices up until this point.
The earth is not just groaning, it’s crying out in pain as a result of the ways we have treated and abused its resources, especially in the last couple of hundred years. The most vulnerable communities around the globe are paying the heaviest price for our actions. Once a year, 192 countries across the world recognize Earth Day, an event that highlights the urgent action we need to take to save our planet. This is not a distant problem, it’s our problem, and it’s urgent. We need to act now, and our Encounter Night on April 26th is a step towards that.
At our next Encounter Night we are excited to offer a space where we can gather to worship and encounter our God, bring before him the very complex needs of our world, intercede for the healing of our land, and be challenged to repent and turn away from harmful patterns of behavior where needed. The evening will be full of worship with moments of reflection, opportunities to respond and pledge to act, and space to pray for and over creation.
