LENT RESOURCES

Lent is a season (March 5, 2025 - April 13, 2025) of reflection, repentance, and preparation leading up to Easter, observed by many Christians around the world. It lasts for 40 days (not counting Sundays) and symbolizes the 40 days Jesus spent fasting in the wilderness while being tempted by Satan (Matthew 4:1-11). Ultimately, Lent is about drawing closer to God, preparing spiritually for Easter, and embracing the hope that comes with Christ’s resurrection.

Joel 2:13 beautifully reflects the heart of Lent—God desires genuine transformation and repentance, not just outward expressions. It’s an invitation to return to Him fully, knowing He is full of grace, compassion, and steadfast love.

A simple entry point for Lent is reading through the Lectionary during this season. The Lectionary is a series of scriptures broken out in three cycles (A, B, C). The idea is that if you follow the weekly readings—typically four different passages—you will have explored a significant portion of the Bible by the end of all three cycles. These readings are structured according to the Liturgical Church Calendar, which includes seasons like Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, and Easter.

Whether this is a new or familiar practice, engaging with scripture in this way can bring fresh insight in this season.
