Juneteenth

June 19

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth—a day that marks a significant moment of freedom in our nation’s history. While the Emancipation Proclamation was issued on January 1, 1863, declaring enslaved people in Confederate states legally free, it wasn’t until June 19, 1865—over two years later—that this news reached Galveston Bay, Texas. On that day, more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in Texas finally learned of their freedom.

So we celebrate this day with whole hearts, honoring both the resilience of those who endured and the freedom–both physical and spiritual—that God desires for all people. Continue to learn about its significance with the resources our team has curated by clicking the button below!
